The foreign trade turnover
In January, - September 2005 the foreign trade bargains weremade by 265 participants of foreign trade activities of the Republic of Buryatia with partners from 38 countries of the world.
The foreign trade turnover of the republic for nine months this year has been 240,5 million US dollars, and in comparison to the level of the same period in 2004 it decreased by 10,2 %, including foreign countries - 225,5 mln dollars, where it increased by 13%, with countries of CIS - 15 million dollars with increase in 1,8 times.
In total volume of the foreign trade turnover of the Russian Federation the turnover of the Republic of Buryatia is 0,1 %, including foreign countries, where it is 0,11 % and the states of the CIS - 0,3 %.
In structure of the foreign trade turnover of the Republic of Buryatia export occupies the major part - 93,2 %, thus, the share of import is 6,8 %. In the structure of the foreign trade turnover of the Russian Federation it is 71,7 % and 28,3 % accordingly.

Export
For the considered period export has been 224,2 mln dollars, it has decreased to the level of the same period of the previous year by 12,5 %, including foreign countries - by 215,0 mln.dollars, with decrease by 14,6 %, to the countries of the CIS - 9,2 million dollars, i.e. it has increased in 2 times.
Trading partners in export operations of the Republic of Buryatia were 31 countries, including 25 foreign countries and 6 states of the CIS. Density of foreign countries in total volume of export has decreased from 98,2 % in 2004to 95,9 % in 2005.
The largest partners of the republic in export for the analyzed period are:
China,where export consisted of 993,9 thousand cubic metres of unprocessed timber, 59,3 thousand tons ofsaw-timbers, 20 thousand tons ofproducts from ferrous metals, 251,7 thousand tons coal and other production for a total sum of 89,9 mln dollars, that is 41,8 % from the whole volume of export of the republic.
Czechia– export to this country included machine-building production on 59,5 million dollars (27,7 %).
Mongolia -goods on 27 mln dollars were exported here (12,6 %), including 12,8 mln dollars for food.
Bangladesh– deliveries of machine-building production on 13,3 mln dollars were made (6,2 %).
In this period the structure of the main export positions of the republic in comparison with 2004 has not changed and includes round timber and saw-timbers, stone coal, cardboard, metal constructions, aviation engineering and a complete set to it, its share is 87 % of the whole volume of export of the republic.

Import
In January - September of the present year import was16,3 mln dollars (taking into account supplying from Byelorussia) having increased by 41,7 % to the level of the same period in 2004. The share of foreign countries is 64,4 % of the volume of import and accordingly to the states of the CIS - 35,6 %.
Among foreign countries the main supplier of the goods to Buryatia is China, occupying 26,3 % in the volume of import. From this country there were brought 3,0 thousand tons of vegetables on the sum 757,2 thousand dollars, 2,1 thousand tons offruit on 956,0 thousand dollars, 163,3 thousand sq.m of glass on 385,2 th. dollars, 20 auto-loaders on 405,3 th. dollars, 118 timber-processing machines on 214,2 th. dollars, toys on 67,0 th.dollars etc.
From the Czech Republic they brought 16 turbines on 2191,3 th. dollars (13,5 %), from Hungary the equipment for manufacturing drinks on 780,3 mln. dollars have been brought (9,4 %), from Spain - the equipment to a poultry farm on 299,4 th. dollars.
In the volume of import 3,7 % belongs to Mongolia, whence it imported frozen meat in volume of 551,6 tons on 555,6 th. dollars.
The countries of the CIS occupy in import 35,5 %, the main is Byelorussia (21,6 %) which supplies Buryatia with refrigerators, motor vehicles, furniture etc.

In commodity structure of import in comparison with the similar period of 2003 the share of articles of food has increased from 50,5 % up to 60,8 %, while the share of machine-building production was reduced from 39,7 % up to 25,2 %.
The reducing of import in the 1-st half of the current year has been connected first of all with the decrease of deliveries of frozen meat from Mongolia since February because of closing the Russian - Mongolian frontier owing to foot-and-mouth disease among cattle.
The main importers of the Republic Buryatia in the 1-st half-year are JSC "Butryatmyasoprom", JSC ?Baikal wood company?, JSC "Darsan".
