Special economic zones in Siberia 06.04.2009
A meeting on the question of the realization of special economic zones project in Siberian Federal District under leadership of Plenipotentiary Representative of RF President in Siberian Federal District A. Kvashnin was held in the Republic of Buryatia on April 2, 2009.

Delegations from Altai krai, Zabaikalsky krai, Tomsk region, Irkutsk region arrived to participate in the meeting.

5 of 13 Russian special economic zones have been created in Siberian Federal District. These are 4 tourist and recreation special zones in the Republic of Buryatia, Altai krai, the Republic of Altai and Irkutsk region and 1 zone of technical and introduction type in Tomsk region.

V. Nagovitsyn, President of the Republic of Buryatia, A. Berdnikov, Head of the Republic of Altai, A. Karlin, Governor of Altai krai, A. Moiseyev, Deputy Chairman of the Government of Irkutsk region, A. Baryshev, Deputy Governor of Irkutsk region delivered lectures on organization of work on tourist and recreation special economic zones development.

33 bln. roubles are allocated to finance special economic zones. 19 bln. roubles of them will be allocated from federal budget, 14 bln. roubles – from regional and municipal budgets. Investors are actively attracted, and today 175 residents are registered. 30 ths. working places were created in special economic zones, and it is planned to create more than 140 ths. working places.

The participants of the meeting defined development of transport and power economy infrastructure and training of personnel for tourist sphere as main tasks for the realization of special economic zones projects. As a result of the meeting a package of proposals was formed aimed at perfection of normative and legislative base, increasing effectiveness of coordination of activity of departments and organizations ensuring special economic zones functioning.
